Choosing an area in Jaipur

For a first visit, the question is simple: do you want to walk to the sights or be somewhere calmer and ride in? Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jantar Mantar all sit in the historic core, and they are described as within walking distance of each other. Where your own hotel stands decides how far you walk, so check the address on a map before you book.

This page names areas, not hotels, and gives no room prices. Rates and availability change by date, and a district profile is a general picture, not a promise for a single room.

Each area in more detail

What to expect, and how to check it.

The Old City

Staying inside the walled city puts you close to the palace, the observatory and the bazaars, and you can start early before the crowds. Look at the street, not only the district name, because lanes and noise differ block by block. The City Palace car park is at Gate 2, Jaleb Chowk, if you arrive by car.

C-Scheme

C-Scheme is a newer central area with restaurants, shops and different kinds of accommodation. You will travel to the Old City by taxi, auto-rickshaw or ride-hailing app. Ask the hotel how long the ride takes at the hours you plan to travel, and do not assume a fixed time.

Bani Park

Bani Park is a residential district with havelis and guesthouses close to the railway station. The Metro line runs from Railway Station through Sindhi Camp, Chandpole and Chhoti Chaupar to Badi Chaupar in the Old City. The fare for stations 3 to 5 is INR 15, and a smart card gives 10 percent off. Check the Metro timetable for the hours you need.

Arriving by plane or train

Jaipur International Airport (JAI) offers prepaid taxis, app-based taxis and cars for the way into town. If you come from Delhi by train, the Shatabdi arrives at Jaipur in the morning according to the timetable.

What to check before you book

Details that decide whether a room suits you.

Map position

Measure the walk or ride to Hawa Mahal from the actual address. A hotel in a good district can still be a long way from the sights.

Heat and air conditioning

From April to June the average daily high is above 37 °C. Confirm that your room has the cooling you need in those months. Do not assume it from the hotel category.

Best time to visit →

Noise and street level

Ask which side of the building your room faces. Rooms on busy lanes can be loud, and quiet rooms are not guaranteed by the district.

Access and lifts

Many old buildings have steps. If you need step-free access, ask the property directly and get the answer in writing.

Festival dates

If your trip overlaps the Jaipur Literature Festival (14 to 18 January 2027) or Diwali (8 November 2026), look for a room early. Availability on those dates has to be checked with the property.
